As a human, buddhist scholar, and psychologist, it was of utmost interest to visit the homegrounds for the 2011 Norway attacks. As most know, this attack was the deadliest in Norway since World War II, and the shooting at Utøya remains the deadliest mass shooting by a lone perpetrator in history (!). The psychological impact on our nation was deep, and a survey found that one in four Norwegians knew someone affected. Not sure if it can be recommended (most Norwegians avoid both thinking and talking about the attack; also as a way to actively ignore the madman behind it), but just like visiting Auschwitz, it makes an impact for life.
