1) The first idea worth implementing is the fundament for Bridgewater Associates. The idea is using radical transparency and algorithmic decision-making to create an idea meritocracy where people can speak up and say what they really think – even calling out the boss is fair game. For those of who has not watched his TED talk describing how he built his company a believability-weighted idea meritocracy, you are in for a real treat (16 minutes):
2) The second idea worth immediately implementing, comes from his book Principles. Dalio writes: Work is either 1) a job you do to earn the money to pay for the life you want to have or 2) what you do to achieve your mission, or some mix of the two. I urge you to make it as much 2) as possible, recognizing the value of 1). If you do that, most everything will go better than if you don’t.
